CAPSTONE SOUND

ANALOG MASTERING
My name is Jeremy Abboud and I'm a mastering engineer based in Ottawa, Canada. I’m a musician as well and on my own project, The Rockyts, I was also the producer so I got to work with Eddie Kramer (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones) on it. I’m thrilled that the songs I’ve worked on have been played on countless commercial radio stations as well as on Sirius XM.

My typical mastering chain consists of the following analog pieces.
Tegeler EQP-1
SSL G-Comp

The SSL G-Comp is a British-made bus compressor. As it is so famously known for, it glues everything together and adds punch to a mix. SSL gear has been used by so many artists from The Rolling Stones to Shawn Mendes that a Billboard report estimated 83% of #1 singles had been produced using an SSL.
Workflow

This unit is a fantastic sounding tube EQ made in Germany. Great for adding some tube character and lush top end.
API 5500

Moving across the pond, this piece is a classic EQ made by American manufacturer, API, whose origins date back to the 60's. It is perfect for adding tight, solid low end as well as performing more extensive moves.
As well as performing processing moves, running through all of these tubes, transformers and op-amps gets me the analog touch and subtle, natural saturation I’m usually looking for. I then add finishing touches, get the track to competitive loudness levels and perform any clinical problem solving work if needed with precise, transparent digital tools such as those by FabFilter, iZotope, Plugin alliance, etc.

Barefoot Monitors

I aim to create masters that are powerful, exciting and convey the emotions behind a song. I want the music to sound like it is coming from outside the speakers. As a musician who sings, plays guitar, drums, bass, piano and harmonica I know what it feels like to be on the other side of all of these instruments and how to highlight the “feel” behind them. Having my own studio allows me to have constant access to my tools which means I am able to provide quick turn-around times.

Amazing truly phenomenal experience working with Jeremy. Results where always top notch.
He mastered 11 tracks. Would return to working with Jeremy any opportunity for any Mastering or music needs. Was at 2 other well known mastering houses and was very disappointed and frustrated. Then I found Jeremy and the rest is history. Couldn't recommend anyone one else whom could do a better job.

Jeremy sent me a sample master of one of my songs. It sounded excellent! Im looking forward to sending him finished material in the near future! Additionally, he was very helpful with feedback which, as a novice mixer, was appreciated. Turnaround time was amazing too! thanks Jeremy!

Jeremy not only provides a very professional sounding product he is very patient with rookie mixing guys like me. The feedback he provided was gold and will only improve my mixing and recording. I will definitely be working with Jeremy in the future.
